Wandering directionlessly once again through some standing rocks, Chuck caught flashes of something that looked like a manmade tower. Following the trail of familiar grey rock, he found his way to the entrance, and called the others over. On the ground floor, they found only a disinterested zombie and some stairs up. At the top they found a room covered with tools, parts and other junk, with a strange device resembling a lighthouse lamp with a grey stone lens on a platform in the centre.

After reading his name tag, Yew and Chuck called Steve the zombie up and helped him activate this device he called the "beacon". After some strange magical (or electrical?) goings on it opened up a new path for them over a grey stone causeway that led through a world obscured by mist. Travelling over it for a day led them to a great, dark room with a larger "beacon". Busting through the doors beyond it, they found more dormant zombies and a staircase that led them into the cellar of a bandits' hideout.

The bandit guards weren't too happy to see Yew shamble up out of the cellar in zombie disguise, and a fight broke out with them & the hill giant who'd been sleeping upstairs. Chuck received a serious bashing and, sickened by Yew's defensive odour, found it very difficult to fight back. Randall rejoined the fight after hiding in the corner for a while, and the three were eventually able to take the giant down.

Hurt, repulsed and weakened by the stench, and seeing his two stronger comrades fall, Freddy the bandit tried to flee but was quickly captured. He revealed that this was the base of a bandit leader called Gimfrey, who used it for the many back routes to different anchor lines that it gave access to. Gimfrey was currently away on a raid, but he would be returning soon, with his strongest fighters. Freddy made it clear he didn't want to be here when Gimfrey returned, after failing to defend the tower.

Today was pretty low-key. Yew and Chuck didn't want to be around to greet Gamfrey and the rest of his men, so they followed Freddy down one of the paths to a small anchor line, and then a small town. Almost like civilisation.

The trading this place relies on has been hit hard by the constant bandit and monster raids in the area. The mayor asked the travellers to get rid of a particularly problematic troll, and offered a few baubles in exchange. The monster proved to be no great obstacle, particularly since they were able to research its regenerative abilities and come prepared.

Thus weighed down with their new big axe & other crap, Chuck and Yew decided they were in no fit state to mess with Gamfrey's men, so they set off to Pondara, on the anchor lines once more. Perhaps they'll even be able to sell some of the things they've picked up at a large enough town along the way.
