Wow, our campaign is nothing like that. There's actual combat, narrowly escaping sticky situations, plotting and conniving. I guess we just have a good GM.
No one gets tied to anything, and we spend zero time talking about what it's "really" like to be vampires. We're like characters that just happen to be vampires. I think that's the /masquerade/ part of it....which seems fairly vital.
And we don't have feeding scenes.
The thing I don't like about d&d is the complexity of the combat system. V:tM has combat that is engaging but doesn't require spreadsheets to calculate it. And the fact that there's so many ways to completely avoid combat is fun too. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I like it because there's more role playing than combat.
