Roger Ebert just wrote a book about his rice cooker recipes. I'm very curious about it and half tempted to get a rice cooker.

Next payday I get an oven! I'm really excited about being able to bake again! I need to get back into cooking.

I'm not sure I trust Roger Ebert's advice enough to eat the product of it. Good for you on the oven, though. That must be hard to live without.

Please do report back on your findings, pwb. Now that I've got my basic fried rice down pat, I'm looking for something new to try.

Rice cookers are very good at cooking rice in my experience! They are great if you need large quantity of rice cooked perfectly. I notice a lot of Asian restaurants use them now as they cook a shitload of rice and then keep it warm and perfect for ages with no effort. Still if I'm cooking for myself or two people I'll usually just use the microwave because it's quicker and less cleanup.

I cooked an omelet in my rice cooker and it turned out pretty good, although I waited too long to put everything in. Just eggs, feta, cheddar, bacon bits and some green onions. Tasty.

I'm gonna try my hand at some tomorrow, which I have been in love with after sampling it at a local Thai restaurant a few months ago. I got the rice chilling in the fridge right now. leokef, you got any tips? This is my first time attempting any kind of fried rice at all. Gonna be using a big-ass cast iron frying pan if that makes any difference.

Probably gonna add more red pepper than the recipe calls for, though. I like it spicy.

Woo, just finished my pineapple fried rice and it is mostly a success! The rice fried up quite nicely. I messed with the recipe a little bit (added curry powder, for one), and I think next time I need to go a little heavier on the soy sauce and ginger, but it is definitely good enough to eat. I forgot how fun it was to cook!

Day two of rice fryin'. I decided to go for a more traditional flavor this time. Pretty much just cooking oil, rice, soy sauce, egg & green onions. It turned out really well, I think I am getting the hang of this. None of the rice stuck to the pan this time!

Cooked up some Trader Joe's Mandarin Chicken to go with it. Really delicious, I must say.

Holy shit, I made the perfect tender delicious chicken breast.

I first brined it in saltwater for a day, and when I fried it, I made sure to not let the juices escape, to cook it evenly, and to not overcook it. This is honestly the best chicken I've ever made, and it's not even seasoned, save for the salt from the brine.
